  Our Policies

ADMISSIONS:
Our policy is to start every child on our waiting list in the term they become 3 years old, in date of birth order, depending on places available. Only in exceptional circumstances will we waver from this policy. Children attending morning sessions are not eligible to purchase “extra afternoon sessions” on the same day.

BEHAVIOUR:
Discipline is fostered by the positive encouragement in each child, of a sense of respect for others and for their surroundings. We encourage basic good manners and aim to achieve acceptable behaviour. Unacceptable behaviour is dealt with firmly and in consultation with the parents. The group practices a “no smacking” policy.

COMPLAINTS:
Your complaint should be made to the pre-school Leader who will record it in the Complaints Book with your signature. If you need to further your complaint, please contact OFSTED on 0845 6014772 All complaints will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES:
At Grange Tiny Hands pre-school we believe that no child should be excluded on the grounds of age, gender, sexuality, class, family status, disability, colour, ethnic origin, culture, religion or belief.
Our resources are chosen to give children a balanced view and an awareness of our multi-racial society with no stereotyping or derogatory messages about any group of people. All medical, cultural and dietary needs will be met.

SPECIAL NEEDS:
The number of adults present in the pre-school enables us to provide individual attention for each child. Each child is able to progress at his/her own rate in all areas of development, and this is true for children with or without disabilities or learning difficulties. We are experienced in working in close liaison with professionals across the range of special needs. If you would like to discuss the group’s ability to meet your child’s own special needs, please talk to the Leader or your key-worker.

LUNCH CLUB
The pre-school run a lunch club between the morning & afternoon sessions. For a £2.50 fee the children are supervised while eating their packed lunch (that they bring with them) and during their free play. The lunch club is available to both morning & afternoon children which extends their session to 3 ½ hours

CHILD PROTECTION:
Our group is registered by OFSTED and a Health Visitor has been appointed to visit us from time to time. Any concerns that the staff may have about children may be discussed confidentially between the staff and the Health Visitor at that time. Under the Children Act 2004, all day carers have a duty to ensure that the welfare of all children in their care is paramount.

CONFIDENTIALTY:
The pre-school’s work with the children and families will sometimes bring us into contact with confidential information, to ensure that all those using and working in the pre-school can do so with confidence; strict rulings apply on what may be discussed and with whom. Parents will have ready access to the files and records of their own children.

* Full details of all our policies are held in the Group.
